This is the most widely-used standard guide to the classic books and papers which mark the development of knowledge in the medical sciences; it is meant for research workers, librarians, biographers, and students of the hostory of medicine. The first edition appeared in 1943 (5506 items); this greatly expanded 2nd. ed contains over 6000 items. A revised edition in 1965; and a third ed. in 1970, under editorship of L. T.
